Mover and Shaker - Week 4

Four weeks have now passed, and with that we have some additional stats to look at to end the month. The Average Rank Per Month stat tells us - not that anyone paying attention didn't know - that Greatness, Untrust and No Homers have been in command so far in this early year. The Month Movement stat tells us that the perennially placed last team, Zig Zag Zambonies, has rocketed up the ranks since the start of the year with a 67 point gain, while last years champ Figjam has gone the opposite way dropping 77 points. The other GMs can check out their own stats in the table posted below.

In moving and shaking this week we have a team who has been consistently moving slowly upwards all month. Roly Snipes gained 17 points this week to close out the month, but after week one he was at only 63 points. Yes, the team is still in last place but, looking at the numbers, there are some positives. One of those positives is winning this week's award and gaining a free move, dropping him to 10 used.

Mover and Shaker - Week 3

At the end of week three, we see the frontrunners from last week retain their top three status. The only difference this week, is that Greatness has taken over top spot from No Homers. Along with Untrust, these GMs are the stars of the month thus far.

In moving in shaking, we have a team who was mentioned last week, but only in passing. It was declared that this team was the only past champ not flying high this year so far, but that seems to be changing. The inTIMidators only rose four spots this past seven days, but his 33.5 point gain was heads and tails above anyone one else. He is this weeks Mover and Shaker, and with the win, he drops his used moves down to 0.

Mover and Shaker - Week 2

We've already reached week two of the new season, but it's still too early to really see any trends or tell who will be treading water in the standings come the end, so lets look at past champs. Six of the eight total 'Dub' champions - the first one ever is no longer with us - currently reside in the top eight ranks, with only The inTIMidators riding low at 15th. No Homers, Greatness and Untrust map out the top 3, with Ellicott Inferno sitting in 5th and Ploughman's Posse tied at 8th with last years champ Figjam.

All these past champs will be pushing to be the first ever two-time champion in this ninth season of the WTHL, and one of them will have a one move advantage after gaining the Mover and Shaker award this week. No Homers rocked our socks off with a 49 point gain this past seven days, jumping him from 8th spot to 1st overall. He wins a move - and he needs it - dropping him from 13 used to 12.

Mover and Shaker - Week 1

We are less than a week into the 2013-14 season, but we already have a winner to announce. Today kicks of the annual weekly Mover and Shaker award day. Week one's winner generally comes at a short week, but this one was actually a day or two longer than it normally is. Remember that the first winner of the year is based on the final points each team had at the end of last season.

Five teams had a more than 30 point gain this week, with two of those grabbing more than 40 points on their last years standing: Ellicott Inferno and King Flameheads. The latter of the two had 46.5 points to the former's 40.5, and thus is crowned this weeks mover and shaker. He wins a free move, dropping his total down from 1 to 0.

This is not the best indication of who is doing the best at the moment, however. Greatness and Untrust lead the league, and it was only in the final day that Untrust was dethroned from the top spot after a week of dominance. Neither of these two were in the pack of five who had the most gains on last season, though the third place team, Porter's Penguins, was. Interesting...

All this means little in the meantime. We have a very long season ahead of us.
