Mover and Shaker - Week 8

We have reached the end of month two, and what a wonderful month of fantasy hockey it's been... for some teams. For inTIMidators and Porter's Penguins, it wasn't that great at all, as these teams lost a lot of ground this past four weeks: 33.5 and 35 points respectively. Ouch. Going the other direction was Ploughman's Posse who had a massive month two with his 48.5 point jump. That's an incredible feat, which puts him in 3rd and much closer to the league leader Greatness, who sits comfortably on top and has for quite some time. It was only at the beginning of the month that he didn't command number one, as his 1.25 average placement notes.

In moving and shaking, we had a couple of teams who had some nice increases but it was Ploughman's Posse great finish to an incredible month that took home the cake. His 16.5 point jump this past seven days crowns him winner and with it, he gains a free move, dropping him from 6 used to 5.

Mover and Shaker - Week 7

I assume that all GMs thought that Commish chose to boycott the award this week, in protest of GMs not accepting the removal of points. Well, that's not the case. Truth is, he totally forgot about it after an extremely busy weekend, and he also didn't get a chance to do it last night. The stats have been recorded from Sunday, however...

There were only six teams who gained anything this past week and two of them had some pretty big gains. Zig Zag Zambonies and Moose On Da Loose 11 were in a close battle in fact, but in the end Moose ODL11 had one more point than ZZZ meaning he takes home the prize. His 18 point gain over the 7 days crowns him Mover and Shaker for week seven, and gives him a free move dropping him from 9 used to 8.

Mover and Shaker - Week 6

What has been most impressive so far in this young season, is how tight the rankings have been to date. Up until the last few days, there were only 80 or so points separating the top team from the bottom one. If it wasn't for the super bad weeks that Flames and Porters Penguins had - they lost 25.5 and 15 points this week respectively - things would still be pretty tight from top to bottom. Then again, perhaps this is the period where the champs start out-matching the chumps. It's difficult to say for sure at this point, as there have only been an average of 289 games played per team, thus far.  With an average of 911 games needed to be played per team to reach the 1200 minimum, we have quite a large amount of stats to calculate before things are all said and done. There is plenty of time for chumps to rise, and champs to fall.

The big story this week comes from a perennial contender who has been fairly quiet in the first five weeks of this ninth season. That changed in week six however, when Ploughman's Posse blasted up the ranks from 8th to 4th. The team achieved this with a massive 26.5 gain over the last seven days, and this impressive movement no doubt has opened the eyes of the GMs commanding the top tier of teams. By a long shot, the Posse has been crowned Mover and Shaker this week. He wins a free move, dropping him to 6 moves used.

Mover and Shaker - Week 5

Now that we're into month two of this early season, we have reached a point where we no longer compare stats to last seasons achievements. It's probably "useless" and "rubbish" to be doing such things anyway, but the league does see value in at least having a look. Nonetheless, we are now into month two, and all further stat comparisons will be within this year.

In looking at this weeks snapshot, the first thing that jumps out are the top three ranks; for the first time since the end of the short week to start the year, we have a new GM up there. Caribous pushed out Untrust - or maybe Untrust pushed himself out, with his big point drop this week - to take control of 3rd overall. Caribous gained 20 points over the past seven days to make that happen, and not only did he get into the top three with that achievement, but he also won Mover and Shaker this week too. He'll have an additional move to help him keep pushing, now with a total of 7 used, down from 8.
