Mover and Shaker - Week 13

It was a week of few games this week, due to the Christmas season, but that doesn't stop us from giving out a Mover and Shaker award. This week featured a near three-peat for Ploughman's Posse, who continues to charge, but in the end there was anther team who gained more over the past seven days. That team was The Original Moose, who gained 10.5 points this week, just 2.5 more than the Posse. Moose On The Loose 11 was the fortunate winner not long ago - on the very day he went on sabbatical - and now, he does it again just a few short weeks later. With the win, he gains a free move, dropping him down to 11 used.

Mover and Shaker - Week 12

Another month has come to an end, and for some teams this month has been very positive... depending on your point of view. If you're on the bottom looking up, it's not very positive at all to see the top tier teams continue to climb. Both Greatness and Ploughman's Posse - the two top ranked teams - gained big points in this third month. The Posse in particular made quite a bit of ground on the year long leader Greatness, with his 31 point gain over the month. As we hover around the mid season mark, it's beginning to appear that nothing will stop, or ever slow, these impressive GMs.

This weeks Mover and Shaker story builds from there. The two teams that gained the most this week were the aforementioned top ranked two, but Greatness didn't quite accumulate enough to stop Ploughman's Posse from winning two weeks in a row. Posse's 12.5 points over this week were a big part of his monthly gain, and as week twelve's winner, he now has another free move to help him continue this upward trend.

Mover and Shaker - Week 11

After a tumultuous time this past week, most everything seems to be getting back in order within the dub. This age of darkness didn't stop GMs from competing, which is certainly a testament to the dedication most everyone feels. Competition is tight though, especially in top tier that currently exists. Past champions Greatness, Ploughman's Posse and No Homers are the front runners at the moment, and at this point have the top three spots locked down. In the next competitive tier we have Caribous and FIGJAM all alone fighting for 4th and 5th overall. About 20 points below those two, we have a tier of 5 teams who are all in a very tight battle for 6th overall. It's currently being won by King Flameheads, though he is only 5.5 point ahead the bottom team in that tier. Below that lot, and quite a ways below them at that, we have the final six teams competing for 11th overall, lead by Ellicott Inferno. This group has a tonne of work to do if they want to break into any of the above tiers.

In Moving and Shaking we have 11 teams who gained some points over the week, but not many points at all. Ploughman's Posse had the most, and it was only 7.5 points. That was indeed enough to win this weeks award though, and with that he wins a free move dropping him from 5 used to 4. I'm sure it'll be useful as he pushes to be the first ever two-timer.

Mover and Shaker - Week 9

Now that we're into month three of this ninth year of awesome fantasy hockey, it's about time we check in on the past champs again. Every year we wonder who the first two-time champion will be, and it's so far shaping up to look like we'll have one this year. Past champion, and a yearly contender, Greatness is commanding the league thus far, and  in a big way. Much work will need to be done by others to topple him at this point. The next three teams behind him, however, are all past champions as well. No Homers, Ploughman's Posse and last years champ Figjam are all in the mix in the top four. Not far behind them at number six, is third year champ Untrust, who has hovered around the top ranks all year. The only two past champs who aren't looking up to par this year, so far, are inTIMidators and Ellicott Inferno. There's time to turn things around, but they have to get busy soon in order to do that.

The Mover and Shaker this week comes out of this elite group of past champions, and in fact is our most recent one. It looks like Figjam not only wants to be the first ever two-time champion, but the first ever back-to-back champ as well. He still has work to do, but if the 12.5 gain over this week is a sign of things to come, those above him better watch out. Champ wins a free move with this week's achievement, dropping him from 12 used to 11.
